What is IUCPM

Interior CIUMP 2023-24 Helsinki España

Since its founding in 2003 under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the International University Center for Peace Missions (IUCPM) has trained professionals from around the world with the skills and competencies necessary to contribute to peacebuilding and conflict prevention.

The Centre offers a comprehensive and diverse range of training, combining flagship programs, specialized seminars, and practical exercises:

    • REACT – our flagship program, which since 2003 has trained over 500 professionals from 70 countries, covering everything from conflict analysis to international peacekeeping.
    • HEAT – specialized security training for professionals operating in high-risk contexts. It has trained over 600 professionals from tens of  countries.
    • Seminars and workshops on geopolitics, human rights, conflict prevention, and peacekeeping.
    • Short ad hoc trainings, designed to address specific security needs and field preparation requirements.

To deliver these trainings, IUCPM collaborates with strategic partners such as the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, and the United Nations Department of Peace Operations, providing experts, specialized resources, and direct field experience.

In addition, IUCPM establishes agreements with organizations and NGOs in other countries to facilitate access to its programs for professionals and students from less advantaged contexts, promoting global participation and diversity in peacebuilding training.

IUCPM combines academic rigor, practical perspective, and international reach to prepare professionals capable of making a tangible impact in building peace.
